The CSSE Edmonton Chapter would like to present a very special Dinner & Learn Event featuring Shelly Bischoff.

Join us for an evening of delicious food, good company, and an engaging discussion on medical marijuana in the workplace.

Medical marijuana accommodation requests are emerging as an issue for employers. This session will discuss substantiating the need for accommodation, valid cannabis prescribing guidelines, testing protocols and return to work considerations.

Substance abuse and mental health illness are two of the most complex types of disability cases to manage in the workplace. All stakeholders need to work together in a team approach to effectively address these issues and achieve optimal outcomes. To make these issues even more contentious, performance and safety are frequently involved in these cases that may result in legal and operational risk.

Managing mental health illness in the workplace has become a significant challenge for employers. Human Resource professionals support employers to address this complex type of disability and are always looking for new strategies that have worked effectively in organizations. This session will focus on two case studies where one case was proactively managed and the other case was managed with a reactive approach. The case will be presented highlighting the strategies and subsequent outcomes.
